Digital Literacy Helping the Homeless Population

We Are Visible is a website to create a link between people experiencing homelessness and social media. Detailed visual explanations of how to set up Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, and Blogs are easy to understand. A sociologist, Art Jipson, of the University of Dayton studied the use of social media by the homeless population and found they connected to food, shelter, and job services. One participant in the study utilized Facebook to stay connected to their family. These are resources we can teach and support to increase technological literacy in vulnerable populations.
